Seacoast Eat Local Winter Market Illustration

Digital illustration, 2022

Centerpiece illustration for the 2022-23 winter farmers market, organized by Seacoast Eat Local of New Hampshire’s seacoast region. With the threat of COVID easing, this year’s market was seen as somewhat of a return to “before times” (as much as that’s possible). As such, the client wanted to emphasize the human-to-human connection that’s so essential to what makes farmers markets special. The moment when a farmer hands locally grown food to a customer seemed like a prime one to spotlight.

The first version of the image is monochrome and intended for use on flyers and other smaller print media. It might look a little stark here, but it works well when placed near text and branding for SEL and the market itself.

The second image came out of an interest in producing the image for shirts, as a fundraiser for SEL. I used the original monochrome version as a base and fleshed out the details to further bring the image to life. It was fun to see the image evolve through iteration.
