Digital watercolor illustration and food labels, 2021-2022
The design projects I undertake always draw from my illustration work, but in this case there was a much more direct connection. The folks at Tender Soles Farm in Richmond, Maine wanted a label for their upcoming kimchi that centered around their ingredients as a mandala. We opted for a watercolor-based aesthetic to complement the farm’s personal small-scale approach.
Due to size constraints, we had to reduce the original mandala art a decent amount, but I’m still happy with the end results.
We returned to the label design a year later, to make refinements and create labels for two new flavors: spicy and mild “kidchi”.
